Events and Activities
Saturday night starts off with The Demolition Derby. Thrill Show Productions never fails to come up with an outstanding show. Although the show starts at 7:00 PM, arrive here early to get the best seats. New this year, we are excited to have a garden tractor pull on Saturday morning. Sunday morning is the truck and tractor pull. The Ontario Truck and Tractor Pullers Association will be running both these events. Classes will include among others - Hot Stock 4x4 trucks, Super Stock 4x4 trucks, Super Modified 4wd trucks, Super Street 2.6 Diesel trucks, and others. The Demonstrations will be loud so remember to bring your ear plugs! For more information check out the OTTPA
The Homecraft Building houses over 200 classes of competition items. Be sure to stop in to enjoy some samples of the handiwork created by local citizens. The Silent Auction, held in The Homecraft building, showcases handcrafted and unique items that make awesome gifts. Among the items are gift certificates, handmade baby gifts and novelty household articles. This is our 3rd year for the Penny Table. An assortment of items will be displayed and if your “lucky” number is drawn then the item is yours. This activity is fun for all.
There are numerous free activities for children. Most of the activities are located at the SW corner of the fairgrounds near the Homecraft building. The big sand pile with toys and the free games area (opposite sides of the building) are open all weekend long. Saturday and Sunday have The Petting Zoo with both farm and exotic animals. It’s fun to watch the animals, but more fun to observe the children’s reactions.
Come and visit the back of the Homecraft building and plan to stay a while. The children may play Bee Bowling, play with the farms and animals in our mini barn or sit a while and create a crafting treasure. Each child (up to 12 yrs) may choose 2 activities to complete through the use of the supplies provided at the fair. This is the perfect environment for children to relax and adults to rest. Painted or glued activities may be left on site for pick-up on your way home. Sunday has 3 special children’s activities. The Rabbit Hopping Club does a demonstration at 11:00AM and 1:00PM in the Ag. Ed. Tent. The Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull is a fun activity with no registration fee, but a small treat for all participants. Registration starts at 11:30AM and the pull is at 12 noon. The Children’s Scavenger Hunt has always been well received. This year’s theme is “Autumn Treasures”. Find the 12 items hidden in the building and put your response in the box. You might win a $25.00 prize. Guess the number of buttons in the jar and win a $25.00 prize.
The Scavenger Hunt and Button Count Contest have been generously sponsored by the Georgetown Rotary Club.
Georgetown Little Theater Youth Group will favor us with their artistic talents as they paint faces and transform our little patrons into cats, dragons and other beautiful creations, on Sunday. The fair thanks the youth and leaders for their volunteer efforts.
Agricultural Education Tent
Come in to see what we did with our Big Tent this year. This area is designated as The Education Activity Centre. We have a butter making activity, jigsaw puzzles, matching games, healthy food activity, a planting experience and crop displays. There are activity sheets, recipes and information ideas available. Come in to visit with the cows, horses, sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, alpacas and chickens. Milking and sheep shearing demonstrations will occur at scheduled times throughout the days. Stop and read some information about the animals that provide food and products for us.
Dr. Bandoli is back by popular demand and will circulate on the grounds to entertain.
The Main Stage on Saturday will host the Special Olympic Georgetown Sunflower Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Steven Gabriel, our magician from 2019, will be returning for another 3 days of magic and awe.
